What You Should Do to Report Fraud

Kirtland CU knows discovering fraudulent activity can be alarming, but we’re here to help, with the tools you need to report fraud.

  2. Report to your local law enforcement and provide the report number to Kirtland Credit Union’s BSA Fraud Department.
  3. US Postal Service: Report Mail Theft
  4. Monitor your account.  Set up account alerts to help monitor your account activity.  If you see any suspicious activity, contact the credit union immediately.

Report Wallet or purse lost/stolen through local law enforcement and identify what was in your wallet or purse.

See information below for individual items that might be in your wallet or purse.

  2. Review your current transaction history for suspicious activity.
  3. Place a stop payment on the missing check numbers.  If you’re unsure what check numbers are missing, close your current checking account and open a new one.
  4. Report unauthorized transactions to the law enforcement office of where the crime was committed and provide report number to KCU’s BSA Fraud Department.

  3. To dispute an unauthorized credit card transaction, please contact PSCU at 1-866-820-2902.
  4. Report unauthorized transactions to the law enforcement office of where the crime was committed and provide report number to KCU’s BSA Fraud Department.

  5. Report unauthorized transactions to the law enforcement office of where the crime was committed and provide report number to KCU’s BSA Fraud Department.

Mobile Device, Computer, and Internet Fraud

If the fraud happened through your mobile device or computer, here are some steps you can take.

Here’s what you can do:

Contact your mobile device or internet service provider and the Internet Crime Complaint Center

Here’s what you can do:

Report it to the Federal Trade Commission  Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov). The FTC enters complaints into a secure, online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. .

Here’s what you can do:

Forward any information you have to:

    • ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and
    • APWG | REPORT PHISHING (The Anti-Phishing Working Group).

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Contact the company you know fraud has occurred or is compromised.
  2. Contact credit bureaus and review credit report. Place a fraud alert.
    1. Experian
    2. Trans Union
    3. Equifax
  3. File a complaint at Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov)
  4. Go to IdentityTheft.gov to learn how to reduce the damage of identity theft.
  5. Report to your local law enforcement and provide the report number to Kirtland Credit Union’s BSA Fraud Department.

Here’s what you can do:

Report concerns to the social networking site you are suspicious of. Most social networking sites have links where you can report abusive, suspicious, or inappropriate online behavior right away.

Identity Theft

If you think that you are a victim of Identity Theft – do the following:

  • Call and ask to speak to the fraud department. Explain that someone stole your identity. Ask them to freeze the accounts. Then, no one can add new charges unless you agree.
  • Change logins, passwords, and pins for your accounts.
  1. To place a free fraud alert, contact one of the three credit bureaus. That company must tell the other two.
  2. Get Updates at gov
  3. Get your free credit reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
  4. Go to Annual Credit Report.com or call 1-877-322-8228.
  5. Review your reports. Make note of any account or transaction you do not recognize. This will help you report the theft to the FTC and, if needed the police.
  • Go to gov, and include as much details as possible.
  • Based on the information you enter, IdentityTheft.gov will create your Identity Theft Report and recover plan.

You should file a report through your local law enforcement:

  • Theft – Stolen items from a home or vehicle.
  • Lost – Lost items stored in a purse or wallet.
  • Fraud – Unauthorized transactions: debit or credit card transactions, checks, or ACH debits.

A report number will be provided. Please provide the report number to Kirtland CU’s BSA Fraud Department.
