Kirtland Federal Credit Union, one of New Mexico’s largest credit unions, took home the top award in the annual Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing & Business Development Council Diamond Awards. The Kirtland FCU team won two awards for the credit union’s Home & Brew mortgage informational events. More than 1,200 credit unions competed for awards in 35 categories. Kirtland FCU won top the top award in the Cutting Edge category and a Diamond Award in the Ongoing Events category.

According to CUNA, “The Diamond Awards program is the most prestigious annual credit union industry competition. The Diamond Awards recognize and reward creative excellence and outstanding results in credit union marketing.”

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kirtland FCU team was hosting monthly Home & Brew events at local breweries around town. The event provided information on the homebuying and mortgage experience. Each event was sold out, and the participants received valuable information as well as door prizes.

“We wanted to create an innovative and fun way to reach first time homebuyers in a non-threatening environment,” explained Emilee New, Kirtland FCU Community Relations Officer and manager of the Home & Brew Events. “The feedback we got about the Home & Brew events was stellar, and we look forward to rolling them out again when it is safe for people to gather in public.”
